Houston's Museum District
Museum District website
The
prestigious Houston Museum District features tree-lined streets,
parks and urban sculpture that beautifully frame diverse venues of
artistic expression and intellectual pursuit as the Buffalo Soldiers
National Museum, the Byzantine Fresco Chapel Museum, Houston Center
for Contemporary Craft, Houston Center for Photography and Rothko
Chapel. These relative newcomers join an already eclectic mix of
museums, anchored by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) and its
decorative arts collections at Rienzi and Bayou Bend.
The Children’s Museum of Houston satisfies the young at art, while
avant-garde works fuel the Contemporary Arts Museum, The Menil
Collection, Lawndale Art Center and Rice Gallery. Tales of courage
are told at the Holocaust Museum, while a thirst for knowledge takes
center stage at Jung Center of Houston, John P. McGovern Museum of
Health & Medical Science and Houston Museum of Natural Science.
There’s a certain animal attraction at the Houston
Zoo, and Miller Outdoor Theatre, located next door in Hermann Park,
lifts our spirits with the magic of music and movement. So enjoy the
view at the Houston Museum District.
